20th November 2008 07:00

Brazilian property investors with an environmentally-friendly conscience could be interested to learn one firm plans to invest $520 million (£352 million) in the country's wind energy programmes, it has been reported.

Ventania's forecasted investment will cover plans to build 11 wind farms in Ceara, Piaui and Rio Grande do Norte in the country's north-east, according to the Brazil Arab News Agency (ANBA).

Armando Ferreira, the president of the firm's controlling company Energia Global, told the ANBA: "The entire investment should be made by Ventania, which will have a subsidiary in each state."

Meanwhile, in other news which could be of interest to Brazilian property investors, Iran has announced it wants to forge closer ties with the Latin American nation.

The Persian Gulf nation's ambassador to Brazil, Mohsen Shaterzadeh, announced during a trip to the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce that trade, investment and partnerships between the nations could soon reach $10 billion, ANBA reported this week.
