Organic fair in Brazil
Over 12 countries are taking part in the fifth annual BioFach Latin America 2007.
The three-day organic fair in Sao Paulo, which began on October 16th and ends on Thursday October 18th, will feature over 300 exhibitors and is expected to attract around 8,000 visitors.
Maria Beatriz Martins Costa, director at Organic Planet, which is the co-organiser of the event together with Nuremberg Global Fairs, told Brazzil Magazine: "The fact that Brazil is going to host the only BioFach event in Latin America, which takes place in the sidelines of the ExpoSustentat, confers to these two trade fair’s privileged international visibility."
ExpoSustentat, which is a sustainable goods and services event that focuses on forestry products, sustainable fishing, fair trade and carbon credit markets, is now in its third year.
The global organic product market is estimated to have an annual turnover of $40 billion (£20 billion) per year and is growing at a rate of 30 per cent.
Brazil’s enthusiasm for developing green products and technology has been highlighted by President Lula’s recent high-profile visit to the Netherlands to promote biofuels.
