Petrobras ’spends BRL 554.8m on sport, culture and environment’
Brazilian energy firm Petrobras invested 554.8 million reais (£172.8 million) in environmental, social, cultural and sporting projects in the country last year, it has been reported.
In news which may interest Brazilian property investors, the company supported 2,300 projects across the South American nation, according to Brazzil magazine, citing Anba news agency.
The online publication reports that handball, tennis, football and motor sports benefited from the financing, based on Anba’s analysis of Petrobras’ financial figures.
In terms of social projects, the Fund for Childhood and Adolescence, which supports young people’s rights and access to professional training and jobs, was provided with 48.5 million reais.
Meanwhile, Petrobras also sponsored 1,000 cultural projects throughout the year, investing 206.8 million reais in these, which could help to attract more people looking for property in Brazil.
The energy company recently announced that it has secured the financing it needs to follow its ambitious investment plan up to 2013.
