Quarter of self-employed ‘considering moving abroad’
Around a quarter of self-employed people in the UK might move abroad in the next five years, a survey has shown.
The report by Foreign Currency Direct revealed that a better work/life balance was the main reason behind the decision, which could see people basing their businesses from Brazilian property.
Furthermore, two out of five bosses said that potential tax rises were making them consider moving abroad, while a third said they could see increased profits if they were to move abroad.
Stephen Hughes, director of the firm, said it was hardly surprising that people were looking to move abroad, considering the current financial climate in the UK.
"We’ve seen a significant jump in self-employed people transferring money abroad to set up their businesses as well as paying for big ticket items such as rental deposits and cars," he added.
Earlier this month, Rhiannon Davies, co-founder of Shelter Offshore, said that bosses need to look at what businesses could work in a certain environment, before moving abroad.
