Rio wins praise from journalist
Rio de Janeiro is the most beautiful city in the world and the award of the 2016 Olympic Games to the city is a good decision, according to a chief sports writer.
Oliver Holt, sports columnist of the year, writing for the Daily Mirror, told people interested in Brazilian real estate that any panic over crime in the country is "ludicrous" and "baseless".
"Bad things can happen anywhere. Of course there is crime and poverty in Brazil, but that does not make it any less inspiring to visit. There is vitality in Brazil that transcends everything and nowhere in the US or Europe can hope to replicate it," he added.
Holt also said that the award of the Games to Rio de Janeiro was one of the best things that the International Olympic Committee had ever done, adding that any dangers to supporters visiting this event or the World Cup in 2014 had been exaggerated to the point of paranoia.
Brazilian property owners recently saw how the country can stage massive events with the successful showcasing of the Grand Prix title decider at Interlagos last weekend.
