Sales of property in Brazil ‘could benefit from north-eastern investments’
Investment in the north-east of Brazil will "improve everything" and bring more jobs to the region, says President Lula.
Those considering buying property in Brazil’s north-east region may be pleased to hear that the construction of more railways and enlargement of roads are among several infrastructural projects set to be carried out by the government’s Growth Acceleration Programme.
During his weekly ‘Breakfast with the President’ radio show, Lula said the private sector and government investment in the region had been needed for the last "30 to 40 years".
"The north-east is about to change. And it will change for the best, because the works are creating jobs, hope, income," he added.
The president also mentioned plans to build 1,600 kilometres of railways to link the ports of Suape and Ceará.
In February, it was announced that David Beckham would open a football academy in the north-eastern region of Natal, putting the area in the spotlight.
The cost of living in Natal is said to be 20 per cent lower than in the UK and over the last five years house prices in the area have increased by over a fifth.
