‘Sustainable Amazon’ plans herald further economic growth for Brazil
A landmark plan to encourage sustainable development in the Amazon forest is set to further enhance Brazil’s status as an area of significant economic growth.
China View reports the Brazilian government has launched the Sustainable Amazon Plan, expected to create jobs and cut inequality in the north of the country.
It is thought the scheme will help cut deforestation through keeping track of local government commitments to reduce logging.
Quoted by China View, Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said if the country did not act, "some countries will raise the question of not importing Brazilian soybeans because it deforests the Amazon".
Potential property investors in Brazil could stand to benefit from the development, with a new raft of building apparently now on the horizon.
Eco-friendly resorts and development projects are becoming more common in Brazil, with the Reef Club in Pernambuco touted as the ‘next big thing’ in overseas property, according to Nubricks.
